Padma Resort Legian Review: Our Family Stay with a Toddler

Sunset over Legian Beach in Bali, across the road from Padma Resort Legian

Short version: we loved Padma Resort Legian. We spent seven nights in a Lagoon Access Room with our 18-month-old, and it’s perfectly set up for families. With a baby in tow, we still got to enjoy a real holiday in Bali.

We paid for our stay ourselves, and Padma had no input into this review.

The Lagoon Access Room: perfect with a baby

Our room opened straight onto the resort’s huge lagoon pool, and with a baby, this was the best part of the whole stay.

When he was napping or down for the night, we could be in the pool just a couple of metres from our door. We were still on holiday, not sitting silently in a dark room scrolling our phones, and we were never out of reach of him.

We could also order room service and drinks to the pool. One of us would head off to grab something while the other stayed close to the room, so we always had someone near him.

The Lagoon Access Room also comes with Club Lounge access, which includes breakfast, refreshments through the day and evening drinks.

With the pool right outside your door, you’ll need eyes on little ones at all times when they’re awake. The resort asks parents of children under six to sign a declaration for these rooms.

Kids club and our one-on-one babysitter

The Wolly Kids Club is for kids aged 4 to 12, and younger children need a parent or babysitter with them. At 18 months, our son had his own dedicated babysitter, and she was brilliant.

We hadn’t had much outside care for him before this trip, but she built a bond with him really quickly, and despite his age, we felt completely comfortable that he was having a great time.

She sent us WhatsApp updates with photos every 15 minutes, which was lovely. The babysitting was included with our room. We think it came with the Club Lounge access that’s part of the Lagoon Access Room, so check what’s included when you book.

The farm: rabbits, chickens and more

A real highlight for our son was the resort’s mini farm and kitchen garden. There are rabbits, chickens, ducks and more, alongside the gardens that grow produce for the resort’s kitchens.

He loved patting the rabbits and feeding the chickens.

The food

The food was definitely a highlight. Breakfast was included every day, and the Club Lounge extras in the afternoon and evening were fantastic.

The restaurants in the area are a highlight too.

Eating out in Legian

For a more local vibe, there are street vendors on the beach and lots of cafes and restaurants around the resort. They were all really good, as you’d expect in Legian.

A note on Padma Resort Ubud

On the same trip, we also stayed at Padma Resort Ubud, and going straight there from Legian, the difference was night and day. At Legian, our son was welcome in the Club Lounge, but at Ubud, children weren’t allowed in the club area, and we felt the staff weren’t as happy to have kids around. It wasn’t a bad stay, the customer service just wasn’t the same. Legian is a step above what you’d expect.

If you’re travelling with little ones, Padma Legian is the one we’d recommend.

Tips for staying at Padma Legian with a baby or toddler

  • Book a Lagoon Access Room if you can. Being able to sit by the pool while your little one naps makes a big difference.
  • Ask about babysitting when you book. Check whether it’s included in your package and book early.
  • Visit the farm. Guests can help feed the animals, and there’s egg collection in the mornings.
  • Remember the pool is right outside the door, so keep a close eye on little ones who are awake and on the move.

Final thoughts

Overall, this was such a brilliant holiday.

Whatever room you get at Padma Legian, I’m confident you’ll have a fantastic stay. It’s perfectly set up for families.

This was the same trip we wrote about in our flying guide. If you’re flying there with little ones, read our guide to flying with a baby, including how our flights to and from Bali went.
